Luther Crest Bible Camp

Luther Crest Bible Camp is a summer camp that I went to as a child that always left a very large impact on me growing up. Unlike a lot of places in the modern institution of the church, it was always very easy to feel the incredibly welcoming air of the space, being a place that was always very intentionally affirming in all things that made each camper unique. Having now spent three summers working there, I can truly attest to the almost alarming amount of welcome and kindness that radiates from it. I have spent two summers working as a councilor with kids, both on site in cabins where I have lived with and lead groups of campers throughout a week, and offsite in daycamp settings where I have been able to travel around the state and work with people in their local communities.

 

In the summer of 2024 however, I stepped into a leadership position at the camp and was hired as support staff, the people that run the camp and oversee the successful operation of daily programming. In this new position as Worships and Bible Dives Coordinator, not only was I constantly organizing children's activities on a large scale daily, but I was also organizing and facilitating multiple worships per day which involved planing and organizing various musical elements, assigning daily roles and responsibilities amongst the staff, playing numerous instruments daily, and organizing skits. In this position I also fully oversaw the successful operation of all sound equipment throughout the summer, including the set up, tear down, balancing, and mixing, and helped lead the creation and execution of the staff Summer Musical which is an hour long musical play event for the campers! This position as a whole has been an immense boon in growing my skills in theatrical improvisation, vocal music, instrumental music, sound design, theatrical and musical directing, and child work!
