A Doll's House
Production Role - Actor - Dr. Rank
A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen, was put on by the University of Minnesota Morris Theatre Discipline in the fall of 2023. The specific translation used was done by the production's director, Ray Schultz, and the production, now set in the late 1950s, followed the beloved story of Nora Helmer as the she slowly began to grasp the reality of her trapped life. Rank was an incredible character to bring to life, and was an absolute thrill to explore with all of his nuances. Not only did I have the exciting challenge of vocally capturing the essence of an older man, but I also got to hone the physicalities of the character who not only suffers from age, but also spinal tuberculosis. His hidden feelings for Nora, his eventual facade break, and his final goodbye are some of my favorite bits of theatre that I have had the pleasure of working on. It was an incredible role to play, and by the end I was able to walk away with the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival's Irene Ryan nomination!
